Grass Roots Movement

Spring is not gentle
but ruthless, rather,
a steady campaigner.
Inch by inch
the battles of snow
and blood warm wind
make the landscape groan.

There are rumors of armies of leaves,
rumbles of regenesis diffused.
retaliative squalls are here and there loosed,
but the window of winter
already grieves.

For there is an aching in the sod
her sons, the storms,
are not able to suppress;
as all the denizens of earth

are bent once more on fruitfulness.
