Man/Woman

man/woman walks inside
alone, and does not know
each face of woman/man
their endless faces
seethe beneath the skin.

Unaware of teeming
multiplicity within
she cuts her river like a knife,
while man, he stones his house around
lives therein
and counts what he can number.

Oh, lives that open inward onto emptiness
while stars, like flowers,
burst beyond the windows of their sight.
