Poetalk

"If you don't live it,
it won't come out
of your horn."
-Charlie Parker

Some stutter
only staccato
percussion
coming on
like sticks
to pigskin
drumming
stiff lists
of jivetalk
mundane
details
un
con
nect
ed
in simple
time signatures
beat always
the same
dropping
only a name
gracenotes
never easing
predictable
monotony
without rest
for silence
or harmony
to counterpoint
in treble clef,
man.
It's just
too
base.
