To the Forest
The flower
flattened by rain
does not become rain.
It becomes a flat flower
or a stronger one.
The tree
felled by a saw
does not become a saw.
It becomes a stack of boards
or a shorter tree.
To t he forest
no single life matters.
All birds fly
in the same sky
gliding low or soaring high,
fall to the same earth,
find the same heaven
when they die.
